Below is a link to a typical result occurring as a SHTF development in Greece.

A good story! But how many Greeks started to prepare when the country started having problems with repayments and politics 12 mths ago. Some Preppers can get some good ideas from reading real life current stories that might help with planning and prepping.

I will keep the Greek News together in this Thread with this Post still speaking about Gardening and Food Production. I fail to understand how the Greek Nation has continued living above its means. It continued to have a higher standard of living over other countries in the region eg Latvia, Estonia etc who were former Soviet States who adhered to Austerity Measures and are doing OK. How many Greeks would be in a position to maintain themselves during the extended 'Bank Holiday'. The food markets would be suffering, where is the money to import food items, who would take on credit from Greek importers? Will the Euro still be the Greek currency.
Although the Greeks voted overwhelmingly to not add more Austerity measurers, how many would actually have been prepared? They would have voted in the negative, as an individual protest, thinking that further Austerity Measures would win. How many Greeks, with such a high unemployment, could be fully prepared (food and possibly water/power if the Government has no operating funds) to endure the current SHTF event in their country? How long will the SHTF last?
Would they have excess food stocked at home? How many have home gardens? How many would be heading to the country to visit the few relatives who grow food crops? How long will the food last with many more mouths to feed?
Luckily, it is not America and there is no looting, after all, the Greeks voted against further Austerity. I wonder if the full implications were thought through by the Government, by the people, and were they fully prepared.

Adding to the problems of producing enough food is Europe being over run by Migrants. The Greek Island of Lesbos (close to the troubled middle east) with a population of 86,000 has had an influx of 15,000 Migrants in June 2015. Just another Crisis to add to the list.
