This Thread could have been in the children's section but this is a long term plan I had. I could teach my extended families group of children or pay $1.80 USD /kid/mth for training and $7 USD /kid/mth for a martial arts uniform.
So, I am paying for my 5 yr old Son, 8 yr old Nephew, and 13 yr old Niece.
By sending them together as a group - it is more likely they will continue going.
My Son likes to do everything, is fairly co-ordinated but at 39 kg needs to watch his weight even though he has broad shoulders and tree trunk legs. He was falling over doing kicks on the first night but improved on the second night (no falls) and is really happy with how he's going.
The Nephew was lacking discipline and needed to be watched. He has been kung fu'ing everything from watching Chinese movies on TV. His discipline has improved since attending classes.
The Niece was stacking on weight and started losing self esteem. She's really happy to have the opportunity to attend training, lose some weight, get fit and make new friends.
I have sent these kids to training for the benefits it will give them in the long term.
They will be able to look after themselves, each other and others. They make new friends of various ages with local kids that they can network with later.
It gives my in-laws (taking the kids to and from the training) and myself more contacts in the community that we don't already have.
They are more Nephews to join in later.
The Martial Arts they learn is a mix of many martial arts formed into Vovinam (traditional martial art developed in 1930's) and is taught Tue/Thu/Sat for 1 hour and 20 min/session.
