Just wondering to what extent mylar bags are used by anyone and if used, where do you get them from. We have to use Ebay/Amazon or direct from USA (but postage is a killer).

Don't use them here - everything is fresh, there is a lot of food here about. The in-laws shop daily. You will even see people pull up on the side of the road or track and pick some leaves (herbs). I have checked mylar bags out. I have 60 eBay items to pick up on my next Australia trip (there is an eBay Vietnam but almost everything comes from overseas and means paying duty on them - so not cheap. It saves me time to shop in Oz through eBay but it costs money for 40kg check in baggage on the airplane. www.ebay.com.au/itm/100-x-Silver-Aluminum-Foil-Mylar-Bag-Vacuum-Bag-Sealer-Food-Storage-Package-/161435686496?pt=AU_Food_Storage&var=&hash=item2596511660 this was the only page on eBay 19 Nov 14. I will most likely buy from China through Australia eBay and test on myself first. I can't order Amazon from here. Like yourself I do lots of research before buying anything - does anyone from the other forums use them? Let me know how you go.
