One canned food that has attracted my interest in recent weeks at the local Asian supermarket is canned ""Fried Dace with Salted Black Beans". Like this one. The recipe on that link shows it stir fried with "indian lettuce"; can anyone suggest what this is? Would gai larn, bok choy, etc work as well? I think I ate this many years ago in a congee; I'm guessing it would also work in fried rice, etc. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I tried the canned fired dace with salted black beans, stir fried with chinese cabbage and garlic tonight. I added some sweet soy sauce for sweetness, but it made it a little too salty. Duh.
Good flavour though. I'd recommend this as a high-protein stored prep. I'll be adding a fair but to my own.

i store about 6 cans of that, because next to sardines, its the cheapest animal protein available.

Pearl River Bridge is the brand they recommend - anyone here used it??? I will get some to try when I go to the big smoke.

Jay, that's the one I have. A good savoury flavour when prepared as per the comments above. It will be a good source of protein, oil, and salt post-crunch, I think.
Like all preps, I start with a can or two to see if I like it, then either introduce it into my preps or reject it. This one's in.
