Sorry folks, I am not referring to Edward and Bella and having Blade by your side to defend you.
Before you go bashing me and treating me like I was some paranoid-schizo (that I am LOL), please hear me out.
Zombies have been around since time immemorial. All cultures have this undead creature as part of their history and mythology:
Haiti - By controlling the zombie astral, the Bokor sorcerer casts a necromancy spell to create a zombie
China - Called the Jiangshi or hoppping vampire/zombie
Middle East - Desert living zombie
Carribean - Jumbee
Western Europe - Revenant (although share characteristics more with the vampires)
Netherlands - Lijk
Germany - Leiche
Scandinavia - Lik, Draugr/Draugar
Iceland - Draugur, Afturganga
Faroe Islands - Dreygur
Norway, Sweden, Denmark - Draugen
and so on and so forth
It is even mentioned in the Bible:
The Valley of the Dry Bones, Ezekiel 37:1-14
"1. And the hand of YHVH was upon me, and YHVH brought me out by wind and set me down in the valley, and it was filled with bones... 7. ...And there was a voice.. and behold, earthquake, and the bones joined, bone to its bone. 8. And I saw, and behold, sinew upon them, and flesh rose, and skin covered over them, but there was no wind in them... 10. ... And the wind came into them and they lived, and they stood upon their legs, a very great horde."
Although these are not portrayed in the same manner as what modern pop culture shows them to be, their causes are plausible and they seem to be the most attention getting example of disasters that can happen.
A Zombie Apocalypse can be likened to a Pandemic where the virus is the Zombie virus (according to the movies) and the method of transmission is through a bite or blood infection. In The Walking Dead series, everyone at a certain stage carries the virus and becomes a zombie at the moment of death.
I am approaching this idea from an analytical, historical, and literary standpoint. I leave it up to you, my friends, to provide your inputs and insights on this matter.
As they say (even the Center for Disease Control says), if you are prepared for a ZombiePoc, you are prepared for anything.
PS: yes, I know who "The Guy Who Will Be Killed First" is...
